An update is well over due.
Autumn 2023: we had a fantastic shared concert with Triple Harmony. This is Yulia’s other choir from Guildford, so we sang some songs together and we each did a bit of our own set. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it gave Yulia an opportunity to showcase both her choirs. We have more experience in organising concerts, so it was nice to share that experience and, hopefully, build confidence that Triple Harmony can take away with them.
Christmas 2023: As usual, Christmas comes around far too quickly for us to learn many new songs/carols. However, we learnt a whole new set of carols for our traditional carol service appearance at St Paul’s church, Tongham. Unfortunately, we were struck down by the sickness lurgies going round, so there was only a small group healthy enough to sing them. Still, there is always next year. We sang jolly Christmas songs at the Sebastian’s Action Trust Children’s Christmas party What a fantastic event that was for the children and families who need their support- we felt very privileged to be part of it. We also performed at Beaumont retirement village and around the Christmas tree at the Mytchet community centre. On top of all this, we held our near-legendary Christmas party at the Hogs Back Hotel, where we partied well into the wee small hours.
In 2023, some of our Members suffered loss and some were facing battles with illness. Our thoughts are with everyone of them.
2024: Wow, what a year we have planned!
March will see our annual performance at the Beaconsfield festival of choirs. We are struggling to fit our three songs into the time allowed, but with some judicious editing, I think we’ll manage it. As usual, it’s the after party that we’re really excited about.
July will find us celebrating our 15th birthday on board the P&O Cruise Ship Aurora as we sail off on a 4 day party to Guernsey. Hopefully it will be a classic Phoenix party, what can possibly go wrong……
November will see our next Family and Friends concert. This will feature Christmas music as well as new songs in our repertoire. This will make us focus more on Christmas!
