So a new year begins and we are looking forward to the performances we have planned and the new songs that we will be learning for them. But first, here’s a look back at 2024:
Family and Friends Concert 30 November 2024
We were delighted at the number of people who came to watch us perform. The concert was a mixture of contemporary and Christmas songs, which seemed to be well received by the audience. The raffle was a great success, with £500 worth of tickets sold and the prizes ranging from an Espresso coffee machine to a pair of Christmas mugs. A representative from the Fountain Centre was on hand to explain what the centre does for cancer suffers and to collect any donations. All told, £1511.00 was raised for the centre as a result of everybody’s generosity. Thank you all – it made the effort of organising and hosting the performance so worthwhile. The cheque will be presented to the centre on Thursday 23 January 2025.
Christmas 2024
We did a few Christmas performances over the holiday period which is always fun. The Sebastian’s Action Trust Party for seriously ill children and their family’s is always such an uplifting experience and this year was no different. We sang two sets of jolly Christmas songs, ably assisted by the children who shook jingle bells for us. We also met some rescued birds of prey – our favourite was the Eagle Owl, who was surprisingly light for his size. Eagle-eyed readers may spot a couple of new choir members in the photos, but I promise you, no one was kidnapped to the Death Star!
Performing to the residents at the Beaumont Retirement Village was our next engagement. This is also a regular in our calendar, one which we really enjoy doing. It was lovely to sing all the singalong festive songs and have the residents join in with us. We also sang with the congregation of St Pauls Church, Tongham at the Christmas Carol Service. Another regular event for us and this one really kick-starts Christmas for us.
Finally, we led the singing around the Christmas Tree at the Mytchett Centre. We rehearse weekly at the centre and its lovely to be able to support them in their other events – we wouldn’t miss the mulled wine afterwards for anything!
And now – presenting 2025….
We have plans for another joint performance with Triple Harmony and have started learning a couple of songs which we will sing together at the concert. I think that we are all excited about the joint performance which is planned for October 18.
We also have the Beaconsfield Choir Festival planned along with a wedding, a possible birthday party and …..watch this space for other exciting possibilities.
Fancy joining us?
