Summer 2023

Here we are at mid- summer already! Time really does fly when you are enjoying yourselves.

Beaconsfield 4 March 2023

We performed at the Beaconsfield Festival of Choirs in Concert 3. As usual, there was an amazing mix of choirs to listen to and inspire us. We were restricted to 11 minutes, so had to ditch one our original song choices in favour of a short A cappella favourite. So in the end we performed, times like these, I’m still standing and flow water. We were well received and will definitely be back again in 2024. Click below for a video of our performance.

Yulia’s 10th anniversary

Amazingly it’s been 10 years since Yulia joined as our MD. It was an anniversary that we couldn’t let pass unnoticed. Debs, one of our sopranos, penned some appropriate lyrics to the tune of ‘thank you for the music’ and we arranged a surprise rendition of the song (involving a couple of secret rehearsals, thanks to Chris Snelling- pianist extraordinaire.

We decided it would be lovely to setup a gazebo or two at the Seale and Sands Summer Show on 1 July 2023 and have a party. The Show featured a full day of entertainment, including a performance by Sneakin’ Suspicion, a choir favourite to dance to. During the afternoon, we found a quiet spot and performed our Yulia dedicated song

and presented her with a picture featuring the lyrics and all our names.

AllNight AllNight AllNight AllNight AllNight

Yulia has made such a difference to Phoenix. Her song arrangements are amazing and she somehow manages to keep us all listening to her so that have improved beyond our wildest hopes.

Thank you Yulia for the music, and here’s to the next ten years!

P.S. Phoenix choir also won the cup for the best decorated gazebo with the best community spirt - what a day!

Joint performance: Come together in sweet harmony

Yulia is also MD for Triple Harmony, a choir based in Guildford. We discovered that there is some overlap in the songs that we sing. So, we thought that it would be nice to have a joint performance showcasing both choirs and sing the joint songs as one choir. This will be a one-off occasion, so definitely not to be missed.
The performance will be on 30 September 2023 at the Mytchett community centre, ticket priced at £10. Joint Rehearsals are already under way and it promises to be great.
